During the inaugural High School Photonics Science Fair at CCCC's Harnett Main Campus, Harnett County Early College students Octavia Harris, 15, of Anderson Creek, Natalie Ramirez, 16, of Cameron, Xavier Figueroa, 15, and Jeriel Matias, 15, of Fayetteville were informed by University of Central Florida Professor of Optics Dr. M.J. Soileau, that their calculation was just a few fractions off. Regardless, both the Early College and Jack Britt High School were each awarded $1,000 educational kits for great scientific work.
