Fire Academy graduates 15

The Fire Academy of Central Carolina Community College graduated 15 students during an Aug. 16 ceremony at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center. Graduating were (front, from left) Shauna DuBourdieu, of Lee County; Reena Stone, of Harnett County; Kaleb Janson, of Chatham County; Edward Wilkie, of Lee; Edward Drescher III, of Harnett; Fred Puryear, of Wake County; and Parker Kelly, of Lee; and (back, from left) Brandon Key, of Lee; Robert Miller, of Chatham; Jeffery Rosser, of Lee; Hunter Smith, of Harnett; Capt. Wilbert 'Tramp' Dunn, Firefighter Academy coordinator; William Smith and Cody Kellam, both of Harnett; and Derek Gaster and Jonmichael Frackrell, both of Lee. The students spent 1,004 hours over six months in instruction and practice of skills, earning certifications in Firefighter I and II, Hazardous Materials Responder-Level I, Technical Rescuer General and VMR, and Emergency Medical Technician. CCCC's next Fire Academy starts January 2013 at the Emergency Services Training Center, in Sanford. Applications are due by Nov 9.
