Underwood sworn in as new CCCC trustee

Martha Underwood (left), of Sanford, is sworn in as the newest member of the Central Carolina Community College Board of Trustees at the board’s July 25 meeting. Susie Thomas (right), Lee County Clerk of Court, administers the oath as Underwood’s husband, Ed Underwood, holds the Bible. Underwood was appointed by the Lee County Board of Commissioners to serve a four-year term, through June 30, 2016. Underwood fills the position previously held by Ed Garrison, who served from 2004 to 2012. Underwood holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Washington. She has a background in education, business, non-profits, and government. (For more information on Underwood, see the July 21 Sanford Herald.)
