The Central Carolina Community College Foundation has launched its Annual Fund Drive to raise money for student scholarships and emergency assistance, provide grants to faculty and staff for needs not covered by state and local budgets, and other uses. In 2011, the Foundation awarded scholarships to 180 students, among them Kelvin Puckett (center), of Chatham County. He received the Andrew Kelly Wicker Memorial Scholarship, which honors a student who graduated in 2004 and passed away in 2005. At the Foundation's 2011 Scholarship Luncheon, Puckett was able to meet (from left) Wicker's mother, Karen Wicker, sister Kelsey Wicker, and widow Brenda Wicker. The 2012 Drive kicked off on Feb. 8 and will continue through the rest of the year. For more information on contributing to the Foundation or for a copy of its annual report, contact Emily Hare, Foundation associate director, at (919) 718-7230 or by email at ehare@cccc.edu.
