CCCC scholarships change lives

The Central Carolina Community College Foundation Scholarship Banquet, held Nov. 18 at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center, brought together more than 400 scholarship donors and recipients. Among those attending were Mary Lynn Keith (left), who established the J. Linwood Keith Memorial Nursing Scholarship, and Ashley Hanna, the recipient, a nursing student. They met for the first time at the banquet and Hanna gave Keith a thank-you hug for her generosity.

The Central Carolina Community College Foundation Scholarship Banquet, held Nov. 18 at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center, brought together more than 400 scholarship donors and recipients. Among those attending were Mary Upchurch (left), of the Sanford Women’s Club. Stephanie Oglesbee, of Sanford, a nursing student at the college, received the club’s scholarship this year. Both enjoyed meeting for the first time at the banquet.

The Central Carolina Community College Foundation Scholarship Banquet, held Nov. 18 at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center, brought together more than 400 scholarship donors and recipients. Among those attending were Jazmine Murphy (left), of Dunn, a laser and photonics student, who is attending college with the help of the Harnett County Student Scholarship. The scholarship is funded by an auction of furniture and other items made by the college’s student inmates at the Harnett Correctional Institution. Murphy and carpentry instructor Edward Taylor, representing the scholarship donors, met for the first time at the banquet.

The Central Carolina Community College Foundation Scholarship Banquet, held Nov. 18 at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center, brought together more than 400 scholarship donors and recipients. Among those attending were Mary Perry (right), who established the Worth E. and Mary S. Perry Scholarship. The 2008 recipient is Emily Patterson, of Broadway, a dental hygiene student. The donor and recipient met for the first time at the banquet.
