This handsome wood cabinet, with two matching stools, is one of about 100 hand-crafted pieces of wood and metal work that will be auctioned off at the 11th annual Central Carolina Community College Foundation Furniture Auction Saturday, June 4, in the Multipurpose Room of the Miriello Building on the Harnett County Campus, 1075 E. Cornelius Harnett Blvd., Lillington. Viewing starts at 11 a.m. and bidding, at 12 p.m. Students in the college’s carpentry and welding programs at the Harnett Correctional Institution created these well-built pieces, learning marketable skills to become contributing members of their communities upon release. Proceeds from the Auction fund a scholarship at the college.
