The Central Carolina Toastmasters Club, recently formed in Sanford, has installed its first slate of officers, (seated, from left) Secretary Margery Gates, Distinguished Toastmaster, of Chatham County; and Treasurer Shannon Yarborough and Sergeant-at-Arms Teresa Dew, both of Sanford; (standing, from left) Vice President of Education Stan Wilt, Vice President of Membership Tammy Harrington, Club Sponsor Cynthia Wilt, Vice President for Public Relations Vivian Rosser, and President Tom Snell, all of Sanford. The club was started by graduates of Central Carolina Community College’s first public speaking class, which was funded by a grant from the Ernest and Ruby McSwain Charitable Foundation. Anyone in Lee, Harnett, or Chatham counties (and beyond) interested in improving public speaking and leadership skills is invited to join by calling (919) 499-6009 or (919) 718-7236. The club meets 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month in Classroom 802, Classroom and Fitness Center, at CCCC’s Lee County Campus, 1105 Kelly Drive, Sanford. The next meeting is Monday, August 11.
