Richard Clay Ingram (back, left), of Sanford, has established the Richard Clay Ingram Scholarship Endowment with the Central Carolina Community College Foundation to benefit Industrial Systems Technology students. The scholarship will pay all expenses for a student for a semester. Ingram, whose family owned the Sanford Coca Cola Bottling Company from 1907 to 2009, earned a welding certificate at the college in the 1970s. Following the meeting to set up the endowment, he was given a tour of the IST program facilities in Joyner Hall at the college’s Lee County Campus by (front, from left) Diane Glover, Foundation executive director; Allen Howington, IST Department chairman; and (behind Howington, from left) adjunct instructor Jeremy Watson and Dr. Stephen Athans, dean of Vocational and Technical Programs. The department’s Pic ‘n’ Place pneumatic machine, which picks up objects and moves them to another location, was one of the pieces of equipment seen during the tour.
