The Central Carolina Community College Foundation is providing scholarships to 180 students for the 2008-09 college year. Its fund-raising drive for the 2009-10 college year is now under way, with a goal of $145,000 from individuals, organizations, businesses, and corporations in Chatham, Harnett, and Lee counties. Scholarships can mean the difference between affording a college education or not. One of the scholarship recipients is Stephanie Oglesbee (right), of Sanford, an Associate Degree Nursing student. She is attending with the help of a scholarship from the Sanford Women's Club. Mary Upchurch (left), a club officer, receives a grateful hug from Oglesbee at the Foundation's Scholarship Banquet.
