Chatham County Preschool

Welcome to the Chatham Preschool. We want our preschool population to reflect the diversity of our community. We hope to be a Resource Center for families, by providing staff whom families can talk with, counsel with, and obtain information from a wide variety of topics. We are very eager to have parent participation in our program through visits, observations and special projects.

Our preschool program is a part of the Early Childhood Department of Central Carolina Community College. The Community Preschool serves as a demonstration center for the students in the Early Childhood program.

Our Philosophy

We believe a high quality early childhood program:

  • Provides a safe and nurturing environment
  • All children have the right to loving and nurturing care from adults in their lives
  • Children have the right to be treated with respect
  • An environment that fosters independence and play
  • Through play children learn
  • The role of the adults is to provide positive guidance

Our Purpose

The purpose of this program:

  • Serve as a child development center that provides for the optimal development of the children enrolled
  • A demonstration center that will serve as a site for the training of Early Childhood students in the appropriate care of young children.

To fulfill this purpose, the program will provide a safe, secure, and consistent educational environment for the children.

Accreditation

The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is dedicated to improving the well-being of all young children, with particular focus on the quality of educational and developmental services for all children from birth through age 8. NAEYC is committed to becoming an increasingly high performing and inclusive organization.

Founded in 1926, NAEYC is the world's largest organization working on behalf of young children with nearly 90,000 members, a national network of over 300 local, state, and regional Affiliates, and a growing global alliance of like-minded organizations.

Memberships is open to all individuals who share a desire to serve and act in behalf of the needs and rights of all young children.

The preschool was the first and only center in Chatham County to have the National Accreditation which is NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children)

Since 1985, NAEYC's national, voluntary accreditation system has set professional standards for early childhood education programs, and helped families identify high-quality programs for their young children.
