Harnett Library Renovations!

The Harnett Library will undergo renovations beginning May 29th through June 18th and will reopen on Tuesday, June 19th. During this time, library services will be provided in room 312 of the Etheridge Building. The library?s regular phone number (910-814-8843) will still be in service. Books and AV equipment will be in storage. If necessary, we can send books and AV... equipment from the Lee or Chatham campus libraries for check-out with advance notice. Reference services will be available, and students will be able to use laptops to access online resources, the Internet, and MS Office software. Printing will only be available in Academic Assistance.

Since opening in 1991, this will be the first time that the Harnett Library has been renovated. Students, faculty, and staff can look forward to new carpet, fresh paint, new furniture, an upgraded library security system, and additional computers. Library Surveys - April 10th - 20th

National Library Week and Library Surveys

National Library Week is April 10th - 13th. Here are the activities we have planned.

1. Candy Jar Count and Give-Away: Guess how many pieces of candy are in the jar, and you win the jar of candy. Winner will be contacted on Friday, April 13th.

2. Paperback Book Exchange: Bring a paperback in good condition and trade it for another paperback.

3. Puzzles and Prizes, as well as FREEBIES! Stop by the Circulation Desk.

4. Library Surveys Online, April 10th - 20th: Watch your email, our Facebook page, and/or our home page for the link to the survey. We'd love to get your input!

5. Library Workshops: To register for these 30-minute sessions, stop by the circulation desk or call 919-718-7340. The workshops will be held in the Library computer lab, so seating is limited. Workshops are open to all students, faculty, and staff. Topics, dates, and times are as follows:

Science Resources - Tuesday, April 10th at 1:30 pm.
Humanities Resources - Wednesday, April 11th at 2:30 pm.
Technical/Vocational Resources - Thursday, April 12th at 3:00 pm.
Using the BIG 6 Method for Research - Friday, April 13th at 12:30 pm.

These workshops will be a great way to learn about library resources for your research papers and projects if your class has not been to the library for instruction, or simply as a refresher. Hope to see you there!

The Lee and Harnett Libraries will be closed April 6th - 9th for the Easter Holiday. The Chatham Community Library will be closed April 6th - 7th and open April 9th.

The collection is divided into sections for Chinese, Spanish, English as a Second Language, and other world languages, and includes materials for learning the language, as well as cultural information. You will probably find things that will help you with your Chinese, Spanish, and ESL classes, or just for your personal interests. Come see what we have!
