The North Carolina Community College System offers a number of generous scholarships to help our student pay for various educational expenses. The applications for the various scholarships will be available via our website during various times. Please continue to check our website for application details and deadlines.

Scholarship Opportunities
  • Allen Ryan Todd Scholarship

    Description:

    • The Allen Ryan Todd Scholarship was established to honor the life and enthusiasm for learning of Allen Ryan Todd. The scholarship symbolizes his family's belief that we are here not just to further our own ends, but also to contribute to a larger purpose. In that spirit, scholarship, service, and a desire to help other committed individuals are crucial elements. Recipients of this scholarship will demonstrate merit and commitment to further their education and honoring the memory of Allen Ryan Todd.

    Eligibility:

    • Be a resident of a North Carolina.
    • Be enrolled (or must intend to enroll) in an Associate Degree program in education, health or environmental science at a North Carolina Community College.
    • Be a motivated, capable learner who has a demonstrated economic need.
    • Submit an essay specifying a chosen field of study and explain how the scholarship will help the applicant achieve his/her goal. A statement of how his/her goals honor the values modeled in the life of Allen Ryan Todd.
    • Maintain a grade point average at or above the level required for graduation.
    • Continue enrollment for the duration of the scholarship at the college where he/she was enrolled at the time of the scholarship award.
    • The recipient(s) must show documentation that they have volunteered in the intended field of study to be considered for this scholarship. Documentation must be within the past year.

    Amount:

    • Available are two (2) scholarships valued at $1,660.00. The funds will be distributed in two payments per recipient: fall semester $415, and spring semester $415. Scholarship checks will be issued to the college in the name of the recipient

  • Duke Energy Carolinas Power Careers Program

    Description:

    • Designed to attract the most promising high school and community college talent, provide students and introduction to the business of power plant operations, support students' completion in two-year Associate Degrees and ultimately provide a career in the utility industry.

    Eligibility:

    • Must be nominated by a member of the school faculty
    • GPA of 3.0 or higher
    • Enroll in selected specialized 2-year associate's degree programs that are relevant to a career in power plant operations.

  • Golden LEAF Scholars Program

    Description:

    • Provide grants to curriculum students and occupational education students who reside in eligible rural counties to assist with tuition, fees, books, supplies, childcare, and transportation expenses and credential testing fess for mid-skill training courses.

    Eligibility:

    • Completed FAFSA on file
    • Demonstrate financial need
    • Reside in rural county this is tobacco dependent and/or economically distressed

    Amount:

    • Up to $750 per semester for curriculum student and up to $250 per semester for occupational students

  • NC Association of Community College Business Officials Scholarship

    Description:

    • The ACCBO scholarship has been established to assist North Carolina residents who are enrolled full time in a North Carolina community college business related curriculum program.

  • NC Colleges Foundation Endowment for Teacher Preparation

    Description:

    • The Endowment funds an annual scholarship/loan for prospective teachers enrolled in community college degree programs tied to baccalaureate completion programs on NC community college campuses and innovative projects at community colleges.

    Eligibility:

    • Enroll full-time in the first or second year of community college degree program that prepares students for transfer to a baccalaureate program in elementary or secondary education

  • NC Community Colleges Foundation Scholarship for Health Careers

    Description:

    • To assist students interested in attainting associate degrees in fields of high demand that will allow them to join the health care profession.

    Eligibility:

    • Completed FAFSA on file
    • Full-time student with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 enrolled in the second year of an Allied Health Program

    Amount:

    • $1,000, $500 for Fall and Spring semesters contingent upon enrollment and satisfactory academic progress

  • NC Space Grant Community College STEM Scholarship Program

    Description:

    • Students must apply by using the link provided below. All requirements and student information for this scholarship are provided once the student clicks on the link. This scholarship gets submitted directly to the NC Space Grant program, not through CCCC's Financial Aid Office.

  • Ray Jefferies Scholarship

    Description:

    • This scholarship is awarded annually to the president of the NC Comprehensive Community College Student Government Association who has demonstrated outstanding leadership skills.

    Eligibility:

    • Elected the president of the NC Comprehensive Student Government Association for the academic school year.
    • Have the SGA Advisor and/or Dean of Students submit a written statement verifying their position to the appointed N4CSGA Trustee.

    Amount:

    • $1,000 distributed in two payments of $500 for Fall and Spring semesters

  • Rodney B. Powell Memorial Scholarship

    Description:

    • One or more scholarships will be awarded annually, depending on availability of funds to students meeting the criteria set forth.

    Eligibility:

    • NC resident
    • Enrolled (or must intend to enroll) full-time in a Associate in Applied Science Degree program of study in Electrical/Electronics Technology at a community college within the Progress Energy Service Area.
    • GPA at or above 3.0 at the community college and/or during his/her senior year in high school.
    • Must continue for the duration of the scholarship at the college where he/she was enrolled at the time of the scholarship award.

  • SECU Foundation Scholarship

    Description:

    • The SECU Foundation established this two-year scholarship program to assist North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) students in achieving academic success. The members of the State Employees' Credit Union take an active role in assisting organizations and communities across North Carolina and truly believe in "People Helping People!"

    Eligibility:

    • Full-time student who is a high school graduate or has completed the General Education Development (GED) program, enrolled in an associate degree, diploma or certificate program.
    • U.S. citizen and a resident of North Carolina under NCGS 116-143.1, and is eligible for in-state tuition.
    • Exemplifies the membership philosophy of credit unions, "People Helping People" and has demonstrated leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement.
    • Demonstrates financial need
    • Demonstrates scholastic achievement and maintains a 2.5 or higher grade point average on a 4.0 scale or attained a score of 3,000 on the GED test.
    • Uses the scholarship to pay tuition, books, fees, course supplies and transportation.
    • Agrees to continue at the community college where enrolled at the time of the scholarship award for the duration of the scholarship, for four consecutive fall/spring semesters or upon completion of a diploma program. Scholarships are not transferable to another student or another school.
    • Is not a Director, employee or family member of an employee of the State Employees' Credit Union or SECU Foundation.

    Amount:

    • $5,000 semi-annually in two payments: These scholarships are distributed semi-annually in two payments: fall semester, $1,250 per student; and spring semester, $1,250 per student for a maximum of four (4) consecutive semesters. Scholarships are not transferable to another student or another school.

  • Targeted Assistance

    Description:

    • Need-based assistance program for community college students that targets a portion of the funds to students enrolled in high demand/low enrollment programs, and provides tuition assistance to eligible Vocational Rehabilitation students.

    Eligibility:

    • Completed FAFSA on file
    • Be enrolled in at least six credit hours in a high demand/low enrollment program
    • NC resident
    • Qualify for grants based upon a valid EFC
    • Meet all other federal Pell Grant eligibility requirements

  • Targeted Assistance: High Demand/Low Enrollment Scholarship

    Description:

    • The North Carolina Community College System has established a need-based financial assistance program for community college students who enroll in low enrollment programs that prepare them for high-demand occupations.

  • Targeted Assistance: Less Than Half-Time Scholarship

    Description:

    • The North Carolina Community College System has established this scholarship to offer need-based assistance to students enrolled less than half time in certificate, diploma or associatie degree programs

  • Wells Fargo Technical Scholarship Program

    Description:

    • One scholarship per college valued at $500 each. These scholarships are distributed among the 58 colleges in the community college system.

    Eligibility:

    • Full-time student enrolled in the second year of a two-year educational/technical program
    • Demonstrate financial need
    • Demonstrate scholastic promise

    Amount:

    • $500 each, may be distributed in two payments of $250 for Fall and Spring semesters
    • Used for tuition, books, and/or transportation
