Adult Basic Education

Are you trying to succeed in life with less than an eighth-grade education? It's tough!

Do you have your GED or high school diploma but need to improve your reading, writing, math, and basic computer skills?

In either case, Central Carolina Community College's Adult Basic Education program is for you.

Adult Basic Education (ABE) is a comprehensive educational program open to adults or teens, age 16 and older, with less than an eighth grade education. To enroll, teens must have been out of school for at least six months. Adults benefit from Adult Basic Education whether they have been out of school for six months or decades.

People enroll in ABE to improve their reading, writing, speaking, math, and critical thinking skills. Some want to learn to help their children with their homework. Others are looking for a better job or promotion and know they need more education to get it. Still others have set their sights on college and know that Adult Basic Education is the first step on the path to success.

Classes are offered at many sites in Chatham, Harnett, and Lee counties during convenient morning, afternoon, and evening hours. Some Saturday classes are also available.
