Blackboard Fundamentals

This training is designed to get you acquainted with the fundamentals of using Blackboard, CCCC’s online course management system. This training will provide you with step-by-step tutorials and exercises to prepare you for developing and teaching your first online course and becoming Blackboard Proficient.

SAS Curriculum Pathways
2 staff development hours

This training takes you on a scavenger hunt through SAS Curriculum Pathways. Along the way you will be introduced to great interactive web-based lessons that are only a few clicks away from you and your students.

Discovery Education
5 staff development hours

This training is designed to get you acquainted with the features available to you through the online Discovery Education streaming service. This streaming service is a digital media learning tool designed to help teachers incorporate relevant digital resources (like videos) into their class instruction as a means of enhancing the educational effectiveness, boosting student success, and creating a link between the classroom and the global community.

Blog Tool
2 staff development hours

This training is designed to get you acquainted with the new Blog tool and how it can be incorporated into a Blackboard course site. Some examples include discussions and journals.

Wiki Tool
2 staff development hours

This training is designed to get you acquainted with the new Wiki tool and how it can be incorporated into a Blackboard course site. Some examples include group projects and class webpages.

Podcast Tool
2 staff development hours

This training is designed to get you acquainted with the new Podcast tool and how it can be incorporated into a Blackboard course site. Some examples include orientation and weekly instructor videos.

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Training
8 staff development hours

This training is designed to get you acquainted with the American with Disabilities Act and provide you with practical and easy ways to apply ADA-friendly design standards to your Blackboard course sites. This training also could be subtitled "Universal Design for Learning" in that its recommendations enhance the learning experience for all students not just those with documented accommodations. You'll learn about fonts, sizes, colors, graphics, documents, and tags that that your courses are designed and facilitated that all students can be successful.

TEACH Act Training
3 staff development hours

This training is designed to get you acquainted with the guidelines for the Technology, Education, and Copyright Harmonization (TEACH) Act and the criteria of the Fair Use exemption so you can confidently (and legally!) provide online students with course materials comparable to those you provide in your traditional seated course site.

Hybrid Development Training
8 staff development hours

This training is designed to help instructors, staff, and administrators gain exposure to the challenges and rewards of hybrid instruction. This training course also seeks to equip participants with the information and encouragement to design, implement, and support hybrid courses.

Grade Center
2 staff development hours

This training is design to get you acquainted with the new Grade Center tool and how it will be incorporated into all Blackboard course sites. This training will explain in detail the features and benefits of the new Grade Center in Blackboard version 8.

Campus Pack Training
6 staff development hours

This is a compilation of three trainings. Campus Pack includes Blog, Podcast, and Wiki tools. All of these tools are built into Blackboard and will work within your course sites.

3-in-1 Training
1 staff development hour

This training is designed to give you a crash course on three of our media-enriched trainings in a one hour session.  This training consists of a 20 minute overview of our Discovery Education, Blog, and SAS Curriculum Pathways trainings.

LOR/Equella: NCCCS Teaching Repository
2 staff development hours

This training is designed to give you an introduction to the NC Learning Object Repository (NC LOR).  The NCLOR is an online collection of more than 6000 (and growing) learning and professional development resources that can be used, shared, and enhanced by K-20 faculty throughout North Carolina.  NCLOR is a FREE digital library of shared teaching material (called "objects") that can be searched and imported into Blackboard courses or in-class lessons for students' benefit. These objects can be streaming videos, lab simulations, web inquiries, or other media-enriched content.  This training consists of a brief overview video explaining the NCLOR and examples.
