WHAT'S HAPPENING AROUND CCCC

It's Showtime with the Siler City Eagles!!

Showtime with the Siler City Eagles

Students of the Compensatory Education program at the CCCC-Siler City Center perform in community settings by displaying creative arts in a variety and entertainment show format. Students showcase their talents with such forms as poetry, dancing, singing, and drama. Dramatic skits, including mime and puppetry, include themes on healthy living and positive relationships. These acts reflect the state's curriculum objectives in health and language by allowing students an opportunity to work on written, expressive, and effective communication.

"The students always look forward to going out to share a little joy and excitement. Just the looks on their faces and the smiles on the audience's faces are so wonderful. We endeavor to provide a variety of educational activities for the students with efforts toward an enhanced curriculum development," states Della Newkirk.

Upcoming shows are at Twin Rivers Senior Community in Pittsboro and Guilford Technical Community College in Greensboro.

Women Against MS Leadership Luncheon Set for November 3

The Eastern North Carolina Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society will proudly hold its 6th Annual Women Against MS Leadership Luncheon (WAMS) on Wednesday, November 3rd at the North Raleigh Hilton. For the past five years, the luncheon has attracted the Triangle's top leaders for an afternoon of awareness and fundraising. The vision of WAMS is to bring together a strong body of women to fight a disease that primarily impacts females, and to raise critical funds that support MS-related research, education, advocacy, and programs.

The event begins with a networking reception at 11:00 a.m., followed by a luncheon from 12:00 p.m.- 1:30 p.m. that will feature keynote speaker Joyce Nelson, President and CEO of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. She will be sharing some expected (and unexpected) leadership lessons she has learned in her 27 years of experience.

Join this movement to create a world free of MS by becoming a table captain or event sponsor today. To learn more about sponsorship opportunities or to purchase tickets, please visit www.nationalMSsociety.org/womenagainstMS

Cougar Pet News

We are featuring two animals this month who are currently residing in the CCCC Veterinary Technology facility on the Sanford campus and who need loving and responsible homes. All animals will be spayed/neutered and up-to-date on their shots when adopted.

Beautiful orange and white mature male cat

Fishbait Jake is a beautiful orange and white mature male and has been at the Vet Tech research facility longer than any other cat. He's eligible for retirement now and would like to spend it in a family setting. Jake is Mr. Personality, independent but available for hugging and petting when it's offered. He gets along very well with other cats and dogs and would fit seamlessly into almost any household. Jake would be a perfect companion for an older person.

Beagle

Gerald is a mature beagle, sweet and affectionate. He needs a serene place to spend his retirement years and would be a perfect companion for someone who lives alone. Gerald is not a demanding dog and will be very easy to care for. He will reward his new owner with boundless affection and perfect loyalty.

Visit the Cougar Pets website at cougarpets.webs.com/index.html for more information and pictures. Call (919) 718-7465 or email jloftis@cccc.edu if you want to adopt.
