IN OTHER NEWS

State of the State Budget

by Dr. Bud Marchant and Wayne Robinson

"As you view the evening news, you have seen a steady deterioration of the state budget for Fiscal Year 2008-2009. During the Month of October. The state went another $230 million into deficit. Governor Easley projects the deficit for the entire year to be between $800 million and $1.6 billion. You will recall from previous memos that community colleges have already been informed that we would have to revert 3% of our current state budget back to the state to help with the deficit. For CCCC the announced reversions came to approximately $740,000. At this point, we are not sure (and neither is the system office) that this will be the final reversion request."

[See memo from Wayne Robinson dated November 7, 2008 to all personnel for additional details.] Artical End

I recently lost a cousin to kidney cancer. I know that this college is a caring group of people and will want to help this worthy cause. Please make checks to Milestone foundation, and send to Melissa Fogarty on the Lee County campus. The families of the surviving children are counting on you. Thanks in advance for your support.
