Library Celebrates Family History Month with Genealogy Workshop
Chatham Community Library will celebrate Family History Month with a special genealogy program on Saturday, October 20th featuring speakers from the Southern Historical Collection and the Southern Oral History Program at the University of North Carolina. The program will include the following sessions: Researching Family Histories, Basic Preservation of Family Collections, and Tips for Doing Oral History. Biff Hollingsworth and Holly Smith, librarians in the Southern Historical Collection, will discuss how to use library resources to conduct family history research and how to preserve family collections of archival materials such as documents and photos. A Southern Oral History Program representative will share tips for conducting oral history projects to collect and preserve important family information.
The free public event will take place in the Holmes meeting room at Chatham Community Library on the Pittsboro campus from 10:00 am to noon. Light refreshments will be available beginning at 9:45 am. Advanced registration is required; please call 919-545-8086 or email email@example.com.
