  On "Career Day", students, faculty, staff, and community members are encouraged to wear clothing items that represent your respective majors/careers. Are you a Nursing major? Then wear a stethoscope! Are you an AA College Transfer major? Then wear the shirt representing the 4-year school where you plan to transfer!

  Individual Prizes: Prizes will be given out randomly on all campuses to individuals who are representing their majors in the most outlandish ways!

  Class Prizes: Instructors who take a photo of their students sporting the College logo can post their pictures on www.facebook.com/ccccalum for a chance to win snacks for their classroom!

    • "Coach" Valerie has been working with animals most of her life. At the age of 15 she began volunteering at a no kill animal shelter. When the economy crashed, the company Valerie worked for had major lay offs and she lost her job in 2008. This became the opportunity for Valerie to take Canine Coaching Services LLC to full-time status. It has been a dream come true to be able to follow her passion every day.

Dr. Anthony Ross Harrington is a native of Harnett County. He is a 1976 graduate of Boone Trail High School, Mamers, NC. He enrolled in Central Carolina Technical Institute's Radio TV program in the fall of 1976. He graduated in August 1977 with a Diploma in Radio TV.

In August 1977, Dr. Harrington hit the road to find his first radio job at 990 AM W E E B in Southern Pines, NC. Dr. Harrington enrolled in Radio Engineering Institute at Fredericksburg, VA in September 1978 and graduated with a Diploma in Engineering. In October 1978, Dr. Harrington went to work at a new station in Harnett County, 1370 AM W L L N in Lillington, NC. While Dr. Harrington was working at W L L N, he decided to return to college to earn his BS degree. He enrolled at Central Carolina Technical College in August 1981 and earned an A.A. degree and he transferred to Campbell University and earned a BS in Social Science in May 1985.

Harrington taught for three years (1985-1988) at Harnett Central High School in Angier, NC as a Social Studies teacher and also served as Athletic Trainer for the football team. In 1986, Harrington returned to Campbell University and earned his M.Ed. in Education with Social Science credential in 1988. After graduation, Harrington applied for a new position with Central Carolina Community College as Lead Instructor of Radio-Television Broadcasting at Triton High School in Erwin, NC. This program was under the label of Huskins, in which 16 to 18 year olds could enroll in college courses. The college applied for a Radio station at 88.3 MHz on the FM dial on March 4, 1988. The station with call letters W U A W- FM signed on the air with 3000 watts of power on May 11, 1990. W U A W stands for What yoU Always Wanted. In the meantime, Dr. Harrington earned his Ed.S. degree in 1993 at Campbell University (what is known as the sixth year degree in public school jargon). This degree was in Curriculum and Administration. Dr. Harrington holds a North Carolina Teacher's Certificate with Social Science, Principal and Superintendent endorsements.

Dr. Harrington applied to North Carolina State University in January 1995 to obtain a Doctorate in Education in Adult and Community College Education Higher Education Division. Dr. Harrington obtained his Ed.D. in Higher Education ACCE in August 2000. Dr. Harrington's dissertation dealt with the GPA of native students at NCSU and community college transfer students: A Comparison. Dr. Harrington's dissertation is also published in Community College Journal, June 2002 as collaborated with Dr. J. Conrad Glass of NCSU's College of Education. Dr. Harrington is also published in Harnett County Heritage, 1993. Dr. Harrington has also contributed to Wikipedia in the area of radio station histories in the Lee, Harnett, Wake, Moore, and Cumberland counties.

In 1999, Dr. Harrington left Triton High School to come to the CCCC main campus where he has taught History courses since that time. Dr. Harrington also teaches adjunct for Campbell University Distance Education. Dr. Harrington was honored by Campbell University in 1993 as History Alumnus of the Year and by CCCC in 1998 as Alumnus of the Year by the Alumni Association. Dr. Harrington also serves on the Alumni Board of Directors for Campbell University, is a Lifetime Member of Friends of Education and Friends of the Library at Campbell University, is a Lifetime Member of Phi Kappa Phi and is a Chancellor's Circle member at NCSU in Raleigh. Dr. Harrington is also a member of the Advisory Council of BPT at CCCC and the Advisory Council of Department of Education at Campbell University. Dr. Harrington belongs to a host of professional organizations both in history, education and broadcasting. Dr. Harrington is currently wrapping up 25 years in education and over 35 years in radio broadcasting. Dr. Harrington attends Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church in Broadway and is a member of the Session, the Chancel Choir and serves as the Clerk of the Session. Dr. Harrington is a member of the Buffalo Lodge # 172 AF and AM in Sanford, Valley of Raleigh Scottish Rite, and a Member of the Amran Shriners.

At 14 years of age, Dr. David Washington's family lost their sole source of income: his mother's minimum wage job. His family was in danger of being evicted from their modest home and falling deeper into poverty. He made a choice and decided to obtain employment. He knew there had to be something he could do to help his family.

He traded his childhood playtime for life lessons in faith, determination, humility and hard work. By the time he was a senior in high school, he was working four jobs, attending school and taking the lion's share of the household responsibilities. The matters were further complicated by his brother's epilepsy. However, he did not take the time to feel sorry for himself; because he innately understood one thing: he had power over his situation.

Dr. Washington took charge and joined the United States Army and worked on his education at night. He completed his bachelor degree in business. Upon completion of his military service, he went back into the world of work and continued pursuing his education at night. He completed two master degrees within 18 months from two different universities. Earning his Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Administration, he then decided to pursue a doctorate degree from North Carolina State University. Dr. Washington completed his doctoral program in Educational Research and Policy Analysis in the record time of three years.

Currently, Dr. Washington has a book under development titled, Life is a Choice: We have more Power than we think, which is scheduled for release in January 2012.

Formerly SilverGun, Rusthoney is a Grunge/Alt Rock band from Sanford, North Carolina. Influenced heavily by 90s rock bands like Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam, Rusthoney has Grunge attitude and intensity while maintaining a sense of melodic beauty.

DAA Nominations and Selection Criteria: Beginning in 2012, the Central Carolina Community College (CCCC) Alumni Association will present the Distinguished Alumni Award (DAA). This will be an annual award presented to an individual(s) guided by the following criteria. Nominees will be alumni of CCCC defined by being a CCCC graduate with a degree, diploma, or certificate, or by having successfully completed at least one class. Nominees will also possess a combination of the following:

1. Demonstrated dedication and support for CCCC and/or the CCCC Foundation
2. Commitment to serving the citizens of the CCCC service area in Lee, Harnett, and/or Chatham counties
3. Outstanding achievements in their profession and/or civic and community affairs
