Faculty and Staff Give $25,000.00

In spite of heavy and continuing rain, the CCCC Foundation engaged faculty and staff in a week-long schedule of fun and games on all three main campuses during the 2011 Campus Fund Drive to raise $25,000. for the CCCC Foundation.

Diane Glover, Executive Director, Emily Hare, Associate Director, and Abby Walker, Administrative Assistant, with the help of staff representatives on each campus and a small army of volunteers helped to raise the funds for the Foundation's awards and scholarship programs.
The photo above shows Christa Mashburn, a dedicated CCCC staff member who volunteers annually for the campaign, having fun at the Lee campus luncheon.

"We are pleased and grateful to report that we had close to a 90% participation rate," Diane Glover stated.

An Alumnus Success Story

Jeff Smith, a reporter and producer for UNC-TV, loves telling good stories. He’s been around the world in his job, interviewing people and presenting their stories to his television audiences in memorable ways. He’s already won an Associated Press award for best Sports Feature and an Emmy nomination for a series on the impact of breast cancer on a family.

Jeff fell in love with television broadcasting while still in high school, where he had the opportunity to shoot video for a television station. He then studied mass communication at a university for a year and also worked at several stations.

He knew he wanted and needed more hands-on training to hone his skills and prepare him to move forward with his career. To achieve that, he enrolled at Central Carolina Community College, graduating in Broadcasting Production Technology and Radio/Television Broadcasting.

“What I was taught at Central Carolina got me immediately prepared to be a television reporter,” Jeff said. “There was no learning curve – I came in the door having what I needed to do my job from day one. People who graduate Central Carolina in broadcasting know what they are doing.”
