An Alumnus Success Story....
Living The American Dream
"With patience and dedication, it's possible to live the American Dream."
Juan Guerrero received a lay-off notice from his job in 2009, but he already had a plan.
"Competition for jobs was rough so I thought, why not start my own business?" he said. "I didn't have the know-how, but I felt the urge to make the leap when a choice had to be made."
He made a leap in the right direction - into an office of Central Carolina Community College's Small Business Center.
Guerrero's dream was to have his own lawn service/home repair business. At the SBC, he received information and assistance on the practicalities and legalities of setting up a proprietorship. He was also directed to agencies that could assist with information or business start-up grants. Read the full story by clicking here.
