Descriptions of Sessions:

  1. Check-in: At check-in, students will present a Photo ID to receive name tag and folder. Students will receive a CCCC folder that provides general information and student ID.
  2. Welcome Introduction: A brief overview of the day with expectations.
  3. Parents as Partners: During this session, we will reflect on how parents and family members can serve as advocates for their students' college success. Family members will also become more knowledgeable about the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) that protects the privacy of student education records.
  4. CCCC is Known As Green Central: Did you know your new college has a national reputation for their green programs? What does that mean to you as a new student? Laura Lauffer and Andrew McMahan from the Sustainability Program will share the college's strategy to conserve energy, reduce materials use and continue our college's rise to the top of Green education.
  5. Getting to Know Your Financial Aid: During this session, students will gain more insight to the differences between applying for Financial Aid, scholarships, grants, and student loans. Students will also be encouraged to apply for FASFA and explained the process of doing so.
  6. Student Panel: The student panel will be made of the student ambassadors.
  7. Understanding Academic Programs: During this session, students will learn about what to look for in a major. This is IDEAL for students planning on transferring. The session will provide students with a general idea of what path they should follow, AA, AS, AAS, diploma, certificate, etc. This is also a great session for students to sit in on if they plan on registering for classes later in the day.
  8. Distance Education: During this session, students will become more aware of distance education courses and the "myths" of taking online courses, along with the challenges. Student Information Expo: The expo will consist of various departments on campus that students can visit their tables and have questions answered, set up appointments to meet at another time, etc. The purpose is to expose students to the campus environment and its services early on.

  10. Campus Tours: Tours will be facilitated by Student Ambassadors.
  11. FASFA Registration: Success Coaches will have a computer lab set-aside where they can assist students to apply for financial Aid through FASFA.
  12. Registration: Students will be able to register for classes for the fall. All registration will be completed with the Admissions staff on each campus.
  13. Using CCCC Technologies: Students will have a chance to navigate all the programs that CCCC uses with a staff member (WebAdvisor, BlackBoard, AVISO, CougarMail.)
