About CCCC

President's Message

Dear Students and Prospective Students,

The word "community" in our name reflects a strong commitment to understand and to meet the educational needs of area citizens, businesses and industries. It also reflects that we are a place where students, faculty and administration interact with a true sense of "community."

The foundation of Central Carolina Community College is our competent and caring faculty and staff. These individuals genuinely want to see you succeed, and are willing to go the "extra mile" to insure that happens. We offer a comprehensive program of student financial and academic assistance. We also offer a diversified program of student activities designed to develop social and leadership skills and to make the learning experience enjoyable.

We are always exploring ways to improve what we do. We are constantly asking you, our faculty and staff, employers, and our community how we can enhance our programs and services. Over the past couple of years, we have talked with many college stakeholders about ways to improve learning at Central Carolina. We received many great ideas and we chose to implement one that was repeatedly mentioned.

This year, thanks to your suggestions, we formally usher in a new student learning dimension: life skills. Life skills are the foundational, transferable, and essential skills that enable learners to achieve academic, professional, and personal success. Life skills development leads to individuals who are more informed and active in the community, have increased self-awareness, and are improved decision-makers throughout their lifetimes. The college considers these skills as vital to students as the discipline-specific content taught in its classrooms everyday. Over the next few years, life skills will be infused into programs and services throughout the college. Our emphasis is on five skills:

  1. Effective Communication
  2. Problem Identification, Analysis, and Resolution
  3. Handling and Resolving Conflict
  4. Information Literacy
  5. Working in Teams

We are dedicated to your success. Life skills development is just one of the many ways we will help you become who you want to be. We are delighted that you are interested in Central Carolina, and we would be honored to be a part of your educational experience. Our website offers information on our programs and services; however, if you have questions or need assistance with educational planning, please contact us. We genuinely wish to serve you in any way we can. Achieve success with us!
